Beyond frustrating

Painfully stupid and frustrating. Tells me to collect "x" item, well how about some of "x" item being there to collect at some point during the game. I held on hoping it would possibly get better as I progressed but no go. Also, to redo a case, just start over with it and dont make the player go through all talking and time consuming crap.
